Cub Scout Day Camp

Whew! What a week, I'm thankful that it's over. Our first year of Cub Scout Day Camp was very successful. I definitely learned a lot to use as the Pack representative next summer. Our rep for this summer will be leaving us in the spring next year :( Her son will be crossing over as a Boy Scout! The committee is meeting on Sunday to plan out the rest of the summer activities. We weren't able to participate last summer since I was working. We will definitely be taking advantage of them this year.

Corey is attending a "Lowe's Build and Grow" clinic tomorrow morning. They are building a putting green. We might just pick up a Father's day gift while we're there. He is very excited!

Kayla is really enjoying her new crocheting skills. She has made several stuffed animals. She is also enjoying several series of books this summer. I'm very proud of her!

Nicholas is growing like a weed. He has his 6 month check up on Monday morning. He can sit up on his own and loves being able to dump out his toy box. It's adorable!

The kids and I are going to finish our summer calendar out this weekend. There are so many things to do. I'm anxious to get it started! Pictures to come.......

Summer Activities

Summer has officially begun! The last day of school was June 3. Cub Scout Day Camp began on Monday morning June 8. It has been a blast! I will post pictures soon, promise. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were busy. Camp begins at 8:00am and ends at 4:30pm. We haven't been home much. Today was cancelled because of the weather. Fort Worth, Texas is getting thunderstorms. Hopefully tomorrow will be clear so we can finish the week with a bang!! Since we are home today, we are resting up and recharging batteries for the weekend.

Main Event

We decided to stay in town for Memorial Day weekend. There is so much to do around the area that we took full advantage. Friday night the kids spent the night with my mom and stayed until lunch on Saturday. Old Navy had their $1 flip-flop sale, so we went there. It was to find that all the flip-flops were gone. We looked at other stuff and of course, found things we couldn't live without. Then we headed to Main Event in Grapevine.

We ate the greatest chicken nachos ever while we bowled. Daddy kicked everyone's butt! Kayla learned how to use the bumpers to her advantage. Corey and I just plain sucked :) After that we headed off to the games. It was so much fun. The last 20 minutes or so that we were there, Kayla, Corey, and I played skee ball. The kids got over 500 points combined to redeem for prizes. I can't wait to go back.

Scooter race, "pogo" ball, race car and cones, and my FAVORITE the dance. They did the Cha-Cha, the Electric Slide, and the Chicken Dance. Nicholas and I were out breaking it down with them.

Corey's Field Day

Corey had Field Day on Friday, May 22. Scott and I were able to make it after lunch. Corey had five stations left when we arrived. Since he didn't know we were coming, he was so happy when he saw us. His entire face lit up!

The kids brought their Progress Reports home earlier this week. I think these are grades to be proud of! I couldn't ask for more. Good job guys, keep up the good work!!!!

Why is it that time flies faster when you have kids??

This is a question I ask myself all the time. It seems that everytime I turn around it's something new or different. Each of my "babies" has ventured into something new the past couple of weeks.

Kayla will start the testing for the Gifted and Talented program today (5/8/09). These tests are only administered on Fridays and will take several to complete. I requested the testing too late in the year for her to begin this year. But doing it now will insure that she is able to participate in the '09 - '10 school year. She goes for booster immunizations next week. She is none too happy with me! Considering that she had whooping cough (pertussis) and chicken pox in October of '08.

Corey was sick with a stomach bug this week. Unfortunately, he had to be home from school two days this week. If you ask him, it was no skin off his back! He had a baseball game last night. His team, Diamondbacks, did great. They lost, but kept up with the other team. (Note: Why do some parents think they need to be buttheads when their kid plays sports?) He has another game on Saturday morning and a make up game on Monday. While he was home, he finished reading his book and worked on the last achievements in his Cub Scout (Wolf) manual. All the boys in his den will receive their Wolf badge at the Pack meeting on May 21. Yahoo! He goes back to the dentist next week for a final check on his teeth and gums from catching the baseball with his mouth.

Nicholas has had a big week. He is cutting two bottom teeth. It's not his two front teeth. One is a front tooth and the other is more on the side. I think it may be a stomach tooth. This means, NO SLEEP! We have managed with naps ^_^. Trying to remember everything right now is proving to be rather difficult. He started waving BYE BYE. We were at my mom's and Grandmother said "Bye bye" and he waved his entire arm. He gets so excited and his whole body "waves." He is rolling confidently from his stomach to his back. He has made it a couple of times from his back to stomach, but is still a little unsure. As far as food goes, he has a lovely appetite. He does not care for green beans. My cousin, Amy, still to this day hates green beans. I think he gets it from her, LOL! His newest taste was peaches. He loved them. I think his favorites are butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and pears. He has found that he likes to pat the table (or any flat surface) while he's sitting there. And he likes to "smack" Mommy in the face and laugh. We went to Babies R Us yesterday and got a Johnny Jump. I'm anxious to put him in it!

Believe it or not, we don't have much this weekend. Which is nice because Mother's Day is Sunday. Hopefully we will get to relax and spend some quality family time together. We'll see!

Unofficial First Haircut

I looked at Nicholas the other day and noticed his hair was growing into a mullet! That was not going to happen. We headed into the bathroom with my haircutting scissors. Since it wasn't much hair, there was no need to go to the barber. That would mean he's growing up (which I wish would slow down).

He saw himself in the mirror and cracked himself up! It was so cute just watching him. He was sitting in his Bumbo and reaching out to "touch" his hand. He would smile and then smile bigger when he saw himself. We sang "Head, Shoulder, Knees, and Toes" while watching ourselves in the mirror.

Upcoming Weekend

I just thought we had nothing to do this weekend. As it comes closer, we are piling on the activities!!

Corey has baseball practice from 9 - 12 on Saturday morning. The team has been playing well together, so the coach wants to build on that. Then we have roller skating at Roller World with Cub Scouts on Sunday afternoon.

Kayla and I are going to work in her flower garden. Ms. Johnson is going to share perennials from her garden. I know for sure we are putting in Gerber Daisies.

I'm sure there will be more added to the list of "things to do on the weekend" before we finish the weekend. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!! We will have fun for sure.......
